What ComplyWCAG Does & Does Not Do
We believe in total transparency. An accessibility widget is an assistive personalization layer for your website visitors—it is not an automated substitute for accessible code or human auditing.
What ComplyWCAG Does
Provides visitors with immediate client-side control over how your site looks and functions for their individual comfort:

- Attention & Reading Guides: Provides reading rulers, reading masks, and focus outlines for cognitive & ADHD support.
- Vestibular & Motion Safety: Instantly pauses CSS animations, flashing GIFs, and background media.
- Zero Visitor Profiling: Stores preferences locally in the user's browser; zero disability inference.
- Assistive Technology Respect: Allows screen reader users to hide or dismiss the toolbar completely.
What ComplyWCAG Does Not Do
What no toolbar or script can or should replace in your digital accessibility program:
- No Instant 100% Legal Conformance: Installing a widget does not automatically make non-compliant underlying HTML fully WCAG, ADA, or EAA compliant.
- No Lawsuit Immunity: We never claim to "prevent lawsuits" or provide legal certification/indemnification.
- Does Not Fix Backend Source Code: Cannot fix missing form labels, invalid ARIA landmarks, or broken keyboard navigation in your core codebase.
- Does Not Author Alternative Text: Does not inject hallucinated AI alt-text onto author-created imagery without human editorial review.
- Cannot Remediate External Files: Does not fix PDFs, downloadable documents, embedded video captions, or cross-origin third-party iframes.
Best Practice Guidance:
We strongly advocate for a multi-layered accessibility strategy: write semantic, accessible HTML, perform regular manual audits with native screen reader users, publish an accurate Accessibility Statement, and provide ComplyWCAG as a personalization utility for your visitors.
