A widget, an audit, and source remediation do different jobs.
Accessibility work becomes easier to plan when every issue has the right owner and an observable acceptance test.

Four activities worth distinguishing
Visitor personalization
A widget lets a visitor choose presentation preferences. This may support an individual's reading experience, but the original page still needs accessible structure and interactions.
Automated evaluation
A scanner checks rules it can inspect programmatically. It is useful for repeated checks and triage; a clean report does not prove the whole experience accessible.
Source remediation
A developer changes the original HTML, CSS, JavaScript, content, or component behavior. Missing labels, keyboard traps, and broken focus belong here.
Human evaluation
Reviewers and users complete realistic tasks with keyboards and assistive technology. Their findings expose behavior and meaning that a rules engine cannot fully judge.
Assign the fix by the failure
If a contact field has no accessible name, fix the field label. If a modal traps focus incorrectly, repair the dialog behavior. If a PDF has no reading order, remediate the document. Changing font size or page colors does not supply those missing semantics.
If a visitor prefers different presentation, offer choices that can be undone without breaking the page. Test them on complex layouts and keep the original accessible baseline. The appropriate solution can include both source work and optional personalization.
Write a useful acceptance test
Replace broad statements such as 'make the page accessible' with a task: a keyboard user can open the menu, reach every option, close it, and resume from the trigger. Record the browser, viewport, assistive technology, and observed result.
ComplyWCAG is a visitor personalization product. It does not determine legal conformance, guarantee a particular audit outcome, or replace specialist advice. Read the limitations, use the worksheet to document issues, and allocate remediation separately.
